Public presentation: 19 April 2015 in Teatro Stabile di Napoli - 29 April 2015 in Folkteatern/Göteborg
The last workshop of the Villes en Scène / Cities on stage project will take place in Naples from 23 March to 19 April 2015. Davide Iodice, together with seven Swedish actors selected at Folkteatern/Göteborg, will write and direct a workshop based on the perception the participants have of the Italian city. The research is divided into as many paths as there are actors. Each one of them will be guided by a Neapolitan citizen who will reveal specific aspects of the city through a sentimental discovery of Naples: social and cultural resistance, poverty and need, theatricality, religion etc. Every day, they will be asked to write their impressions and discoveries on the blank pages of the stage. The starting point will be an image, a place: the Veiled Christ of the Cappella di San Severo, in the historical centre of the city, which will be apprehended as a physical and symbolical element at the core of the creation. Il velo (“The Veil”, title of this workshop) reveals and hides, holds back and protects this body which perpetually seems to revive. That’s how Davide Iodice understands the city of Naples.
